The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently India's largest political party and has been the ruling party since 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Founded in 1980, it emerged from the Jana Sangh party and represents right-wing politics with an ideology based on cultural nationalism (Hindutva) and economic development.
The BJP's governance philosophy centers on "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas" (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, Efforts of all). Under Modi's leadership, the party has implemented several significant policies including demonetization, GST implementation, Digital India, Make in India, and various welfare schemes.
The party has shown remarkable electoral success, securing consecutive majority victories in the 2014 and 2019 general elections - a feat not achieved by any party since 1984. The BJP's strength lies in its robust organizational structure, strong social media presence, and effective leadership.
Key achievements under BJP rule include the abrogation of Article 370, construction of Ram Mandir, implementation of UPI digital payments, and various infrastructure developments. The party emphasizes nationalism, economic reforms, and technological advancement while maintaining traditional Indian values.
The BJP currently governs either alone or in alliance in 17 states, making it India's dominant political force.
